If that isn't the case, their cruelty makes them people we never want in our lives. I'm the black sheep of our family. Because of my differing beliefs, they see me as having lost my marbles — and that I'm no longer playing with a full deck upstairs. By sharing my personal experiences, I show how they have affected me. Including many Bible verses, I show that there's a better way. Our Heavenly Father's love is incredible, and all He wants from us is our love. Through a thorough analysis of judging and gossiping, I highlight how these behaviors harm relationships and foster discord. Touching on my siblings' religious beliefs, in contrast, I offer a side-by-side perspective. In doing in-depth Bible study, I have developed many views and opinions that differ from those of my family. I believe my marbles are all intact, but you decide. I am honored to have been invited to write a foreword for this book, because tumors of the yolk sac have been a preoccupation of mine since the days of my residency, now more than 3 decades ago. At that time, a 3-year-old boy died of a testicular cancer of unknown histo genesis. It was bad enough that the child died, but it bothered me even more that medical science did not know the histogenesis of the tumor that destroyed him, and I decided to study testicular cancer. For re search training I sought out F. J. Dixon, who had written the Armed Forces Fascicle on testicular tumors. Dr. Dixon and I showed that embryonal carcinoma was a multipoten tial malignant stem cell that differentiated into the three embryonic germ layers of murine teratocarcinoma. This led to the idea that the normal counterpart of embryonal carcinoma must also be multi potent, and we focused on the preimplantation embryo for the histo genesis of the tumor. This idea was strengthened by the discovery that embryonal carcinoma cells made embryoid bodies in the ascites and it was possible to observe the development of these bodies in vitro. These observations led to the idea that embryonal carcinoma was a caricature (gross misrepresentation) of early development, and car cinomas in general were a caricature of the process of renewal of their normal counterpart.

IgY-Technology: Production and Application of Egg Yolk Antibodies

This book introduces recent progress in preparation and application of core-shell and yolk-shell structures for attractive design of catalyst materials. Core-shell nanostructures with active core particles covered directly with an inert shell can perform as highly active and selective catalysts with long lifetimes. Yolk-shell nanostructures consisting of catalytically active core particles encapsulated by hollow materials are an emerging class of nanomaterials. The enclosed void space is expected to be useful for encapsulation and compartmentation of guest molecules, and the outer shell acts as a physical barrier to protect the guest molecules from the surrounding environment. Furthermore, the tunability and functionality in the core and the shell regions can offer new catalytic properties, rendering them attractive platform materials for the design of heterogeneous catalysts. This book describes the recent development of such unique nanostructures to design effective catalysts which can lead to new chemical processes. It provides an excellent guide for design and application of core-shell and yolk-shell structured catalysts for a wide range of readers working on design of attractive catalysts, photocatalysts, and electrocatalysts for energy, environmental, and green chemical processes.

Core-Shell and Yolk-Shell Nanocatalysts

Polyclonal antibodies, widely used in research and diagnostics, are conventionally isolated from the blood of immunised mammals. The fact that antibodies can also be detected in the yolk of eggs laid by immunised hens, led to the development of the yolk antibody technology as an alternative method less stressful to animals. Hens can be kept under nearly natural conditions and antibodies be isolated from the eggs. Further, the IgY-technology has the advantage that avian antibodies can be produced against several antigens which do not induce a immune response in mammals. Protocols on how to keep and immunise hens and on the extraction, isolation and use of antibodies from yolk are described in detail in this manual. For their work on yolk antibodies the authors received the FISEA (International Foundation for the Substitution of Animal Experimentation, Luxembourg) prize in 1997.
